Primary Warning Signs (Red Flags)
- Increased Thirst & Urination: Excessive water intake and frequent, large amounts of urination (polyuria/polydipsia) are often the first, most common signs.
- Foul-Smelling Vaginal Discharge: In “open” pyometra, you may see pus—white, yellow, green, or bloody—leaking from the vulva. Note: In “closed” pyometra, no discharge is visible, making it more dangerous.
- Lethargy and Depression: Your Frenchie may be extremely tired, unwilling to walk, or “off” in their behavior.
- Reduced or Loss of Appetite: A sudden refusal to eat or a significant drop in appetite.
- Bloated or Swollen Abdomen: A distended, painful belly, often indicating a closed-cervix pyometra where fluid is trapped.
